New Four Thirds lenses from Samyang: 85mm f1.4 and 8mm f3.5 fisheye
LensTip.com (the English edition of Optyczne.pl) has been informed by lens manufacturer Samyang that they are officially announcing their 85mm f1.4 and 8mm f3.5 fisheye lenses for the Four Thirds mount. Both are manual focus, and they are already available in other mounts. They also go by other brand names as well. We cannot recall with 100% accuracy, but these are likely the Vivitar 85mm f1.4 lenses you see at B&H Photo available in the four traditional SLR mounts (C,M,N,P) for $350.
Their European debut is planned for late March 2010. As you may recall, Samyang marketing revealed this three weeks ago in an interview with LensTip.
This will thrill Four Thirds fans, as Olympus has been paying more attention to the E-Pen launch, and Panasonic has shifted towards M43rds. With the advances in 43M43 sensors (2X), fans of Four Thirds will point out that Four Thirds is a competitive alternative to the traditional APS-C DSLRs. But some fans of APS-C DSLRs disagree with that assertion.
Speaking of Four Thirds, we posted a DSLR price check earlier today at the Camera Deals blog.
