Strange yet official 2012 Olympics promo pictures fuel conspiracy theories

Share/Save/Bookmark

The power of photography and imagery is evidenced once again. This time in a strange kind of way. The first set of pictures released to celebrate 1000 days until the London 2012 Olympics have fueled conspiracy theories says the British Journal of Photography blog (1854.eu). Considering that we already have the "excitement" over 2012 and the Mayan calendar, this dystopian collection of pictures is fanning the flames.

These are the type of pictures you would see if someone was promoting a sci-fi film, or perhaps something like ABC's new re-imagined series "V" which makes its debut on Tuesday. But the Olympics?

Which brings up the big question, if a giant UFO appeared over your city, which lens would you use to photograph it? :-)
