Stabilized SuperZoom face-off: Nikon vs Sigma 18-200mm
The convenience of superzoom lenses trades off their optical compromises, and the former over the latter is perhaps one of the reasons why they are popular with photographers, despite the constant scorn by the photography elites and the primes-rule crowd. With that as a completely unnecessary preface, we have a 18-200mm shootout at DigitalReview. The two lenses squared off and pixel-peeped are the Nikon 18-200mm DX VR II and the Shiguma 18-200mm DC OS. The Nikon D90 serves as the "basis" of the test. One thing to consider when evaluating the test results is that the Nikon lens costs nearly twice as much as the Shiguma! To our surprise, we did not find a 100% brick wall comparison shot, but we did find a Barbie party :)
