Pentax K-x reviews and other stories
Time to take the pulse of the Pentax K-x, another new camera of 2009 that has generated more interest than originally anticipated thanks to the colorful marketing and the 12mp Sony CMOS sensor.
New K-X reviews
Two reviews have been recently posted on the internets. We start with the just-published review at Photo Review, which starts with a detailed spec comparison between the Km, Kx and K7 (prices are in Australian $). As usual, there are plenty of Imatest charts for the technically inclined. As usual we won't spoil the findings, but here is a teaser phrase: "superior high-ISO performance".
Next, a hands-on review of the camera at Radiant Lite, with conclusions and link to full-size real-world samples on page #3.
Other Action
The K-x holds down the fort for AA-based DSLRs, and Rice High recaps some of the latest battery talk about the camera. On a related note, old rechargeable AAs that may not be good enough for cameras, can be great for wireless mice :)
The K-x is one of the topics discussed in a recent interactive blog post at Yvon's.
For the troublemakers out there who are not afraid of "hurting" their camera, RiceHigh rounds up discussion on the debug mode.
Now how about some printing? Ned B wrote a post commemorating his first K-x prints.
Forum Action
We start at the PFFs (PentaxForums forums) where there is a celebration of a Top 5 ranking by the Sunday Times.
It's always a special day, the first day you spend with a new camera! And the K-x went to the beach in Adelaide in South Australia (corrected geography, not South Africa, thanks!).
And for fans of high ISO, here are two more.
This set of pictures were taken with the FA 31mm Limited prime, we don't know with which body, but they are well-worth taking a look at.
