Olympus charts four Micro Four Thirds lenses for Spring 2011

Share/Save/Bookmark

We still owe you the second Olympus E-P2 round-up, which is coming during this weekend. But first, Olympus has revealed their planned 2011 lenses, which according to their roadmap will be as follows (focal ranges are estimates based on the chart):
+ 50mm macro (100mm equivalent)
+ 13mm wide zoom (26mm equivalent)
+ 75-275mm telephoto (150-550mm equivalent)
+ 8mm fisheye (16mm equivalent)

Please note the focal ranges are very rough estimates based on the chart. We did not measure millimeters on the chart :)

The lenses announced for 2010 have already disappointed photographers due to overlap and lack of pancakes which seem ideally suited for a compact system. The 2011 lenses are an improvement in terms of diversity, but pancake fans are probably still puzzled.

Meanwhile, the Four Thirds roadmap does not have any new lenses planned.
