New Top Selling DSLRs: Canon and Nikon reign supreme
Time for a new installment in the on-going soap-opera that is the Top Selling DSLR Charts at Amazon. As usual, we start with a screenshot teaser, and then observe trends and patterns. This has been a recurring feature on the noisy blogs for years, but if this is your first visit, be sure to read the introduction first so you can make the most of this.
K for early Kommercial success?
The second Pentax K-x two-lens kit (18-55/55-300mm) is back in the Top 20, partially thanks to another $30 discount, bringing its price down to $721. This remains in pre-order status by Amazon itself, but considering the buzz the camera has generated [reviews], and the early analysis of its noise performance, it is not a surprise.
Canon and Nikon offer temptations
Both Canon and Nikon are heating things up in the market, as the $200 instant rebate for Canon is securing the top two spots for the T1i (500D) and XSi (450D), while continuing discounts for the two main D90 kits keep them going.
Micro Stock-Status Blues
Micro Four Thirds has lost its momentum as the GF1 kits continue to go in-and-out of stock, the E-P1 is back at $800, and the E-P2 is in pre-order mode. The GH1 does have a $50 discount, but it's a 3.33% discount, so it's not big enough to "force" decisions.
Price downticks continue
It is quite interesting how the upticks-vs-downticks score changed so dramatically the last couple of updates. Prices are going down across the board! There are only fake price-increases, when the profiteers spike prices to crazy-high levels to capitalize on limited availability.
