New Olympus E-P1 and Panasonic GH1 reviews (updated)

The Panasonic GF1 is not the center of the Micro Four Thirds universe, although it appears to be the biggest galaxy at the moment. So, let's take a look at two new non-GF1 reviews that got out this week.

We start with a hot off the e-wires review by the critically-acclaimed website PhotoZone.de. They have a seven page review of the Olympus E-P1, with full-size sample pictures available for evaluation purposes. Pixel-peepiential material are on the "Resolution" and "Sensor Noise" pages.

UPDATE: Via Thomas Hawk, we learn of a new photographer's review of the E-P1 by flickr photographer Andertho.

Next we go to Photocrati for a photographer-priority review of the Panasonic GH1 by Peter K. Burian. Conclusions are towards the bottom and as usual, we won't spoil the findings here.

The GH1 is sandwiched between the G1 and the hot GF1 and E-P1, and because of some supply issues, the camera never quite got the attention it would have gotten otherwise. But it is available, and it is one possibility for M43rds fans who also want to get the 14-140mm MegaOIS.

Given the current availability situation and kits, Micro Four Thirds is in some ways a virtual GXR-like system. The only non-kit M43rds lens that is predictably available is the Panasonic 45-200mm. Perhaps that's what encouraged Ricoh to go ahead with the GXR system :)

You can also check the unified G1/GH1 diary, which is not very frequently updated these days as we are still trying to recover from the wave of new cameras that hit us in the second half of this year.
