Fuji Japan adds pink and brown to the F70-EXR (updated)
Fuji Japan has added pink and brown body-color options for its Fuji F70 EXR digital camera. These new options will go on sale in mid-November for around 40K yen. We do not know if/when they will be available outside Japan. This is usually a good sign for a camera model - it shows that there is interest in it.
In the US market, the F70EXR is priced very competitively as the compact superzoom market is getting very crowded. You can get the black F70EXR for as low as $233 at Amazon. It will be interesting to see whether dpreview or Imaging Resource decide to dissect review this one because of the curiosity factor of the 1/2.4" SuperCCD-EXR sensor.
As you may recall, the last time Fuji tried the 1/2.5" SuperCCD, its comparative benefits where nowhere as visible as those at the 1/1.6" sensor size, which is perhaps one of the reasons why they stopped. Then they went with an 11mp 2/3" sensor for the S100fs, but in 2009, they switched the S200-EXR to a 1/1.6" sensor, and launched the 1/2.4" 1/2" SuperCCD EXR sensor of the F70exr.
CORRECTION: Thanks to one of our readers for pointing it out - the F70-EXR sensor is 1/2", not 1/2.4".
