Casio EX-H10 surprises, battery lasts longer than CIPA rating
We will return to the new Olympus E-P2 later today with the latest updates, but first, time to catch up with some other items of interest as things have gotten busy again. We start with something very brave from Japanese website DC-Watch.
As you may recall, Casio made a claim that their EX-H10 slim-zoom had a CIPA rating of 1000 pictures per battery charge, which is rather surprising for a P&S camera. In fact this high of a number is rare in many DSLRs. So DC-Watch tried to reproduce the CIPA tests by trying to follow every single requirement and prerequisite.
Geeky fun for sure, but also a major pain in re-producing it as they have discovered, especially when the number of shots is so high. And the results were surprisingly higher than the actual CIPA rating! The lab test got them over 1900 shots per charge (!), while the real-world walkabout-test got them over 1100. Both above the listed CIPA rating!
In terms of availability, the camera goes for around $250 as the compact superzoom prices have gotten very competitive the last few weeks.
