Canon Instant Rebates return: 50D, T1i, XSi, XS

Thanks to one of our readers for the tip! The Canon Instant Rebates have returned today, and they are good until January 16, 2010. You can read the details in the official PDF file at Canon's promotions page.

We are taking a look at Amazon.com in this post. Please note that all items must be sold and shipped by Amazon.com, not 3rd-party sellers for the instant rebate to take effect. You will see the instant rebate in the Amazon Checkout page, which is the last step before you place an order. If you do not see the instant rebate discount applied there, DO NOT proceed - it means there is something wrong. You cannot fix it later! If you are not familiar with this, please look at the example at the bottom of this post.

Please note that the 55-250mm EF-S lens "ships in 3 to 5 weeks" but this does not affect the instant rebate price. The price is locked the moment you place your order. Unless of course you need to have the lens immediately. (We will prepare the same lists for other popular retailers at a later time, since unfortunately we cannot pause time)

Latest Update: Sunday December 6 at 7:37pm EST

Canon Digital Rebel T1i (500D)
+ T1i w/18-55mm EF-S + 55-250mm EF-S = $691 $719 + $255 - $200 instant rebate = $774

Canon 50D
+ Canon 50D w/28-135 EF + EF 70-300mm f4-5.6 IS = $1130 + $535 - $200 instant rebate = $1465

Canon Digital Rebel XSi (450D)
+ XSi w/18-55mm EF-S IS + 55-250mm IS EF-S = $570 + $255 - $200 instant rebate = $625

Canon Digital Rebel XS (1000D)
+ XS w/18-55mm EF-S IS + EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III = $459 + lens-price - $100 instant rebate (the lens is currently not available from Amazon.com itself)

Question on instant and printer rebates?
One of our readers asked the question whether the instant rebates are compatible with the mail-in printer rebates. We do not know the answer. Does anyone know? If yes, please leave a comment! Thanks!

Example of the Instant Rebate at the Amazon Checkout page
For the purpose of this example, we are using the Canon T1i w/18-55mm EF-S (price $691) and the 55-250m EF-S IS lens (price $256). The instant rebate is $200. So the price you see is $691 + $255 = $946. The instant rebate is deducted in "Promotions Applied" and you get a price of $746. (The prices shown here are for example-purposes, they may differ from actual prices).
