Camera Labs analyzes the Olympus E-P1
CameraLabs put on their sterile suits and lab-goggles and put the Olympus E-P1 through the lab testing grind. Their findings have now been revealed! As usual, we won't reveal the conclusions here, but if you are in a hurry look for the pink "Verdict" tab, where they also compare it (text-wise) to the GF1, E620 and G11.
Of interest to fans of comparisons, check the "Results" tab (note there are two sub-tabs right underneath it) where they compare full-range ISO crops of the E-P1, with the Nikon D90 and Panasonic FZ38 (FZ35). This comparison may be particularly useful to "elevator" buyers, people who are considering cameras of different types, going vertically up-and-down the spec-sheets, instead of horizontally among similarly-spec'ed cameras. Or to simplify this, some people are looking for a camera that is "good enough" for what they are interested in, regardless of where it fits in the grand scheme of things.
For more on the E-P1, be sure to check its list of reviews and mini blog.
We have just refreshed the E-P1 stock-status matrix after a two week delay. The E-P1 kits continue to resist discounts at the major retailers, however, there are some tiny cracks in the price-ceiling! The 17mm pancake lens has dropped a dramatic $5 at B&H Photo and Amazon :)
