New Zeiss 28mm f2 ZE for the Canon EF mount
Zeiss is slowly but steadily trying to capitalize on its brand name recognition and history by making lenses available for the traditional SLR mounts. The latest new model is the 28mm f2 ZE (yes, f-2), for the Canon EF mount (ZE = Z-EOS). It has 10 elements in 8 groups, with a minimum focusing distance of 24cm, and a 1:4.7 max-mag. It weighs 580 grams.
The lens is priced in the 1000 euro range. This is of course a 35mm full-frame lens. For more, be sure to check out:

New Zeiss newsletter #33 is out
In addition to the newly announced lens, there is also a new edition of the Camera Lens News newsletter, edition #33. Interestingly, the e-mail edition, which was sent about seven hours ago, does not mention the new 28mm f2 lens, but the website edition does :)
There are four articles in this edition, one talking Zeiss lenses and videography, and another talks photography-in-space (for those of you who have your own space shuttle) with the Planar T* 85mm f1.4 ZF singled out for the mission. Also in the newsletter, portraits in near darkness with Zeiss lenses (of course), and a short primer on distortion.
