New Sanyo Eneloop batteries jump to 1500 recharges (Japan only)

Sanyo has announced a new iteration of its Eneloop batteries, and the new iteration will be able to withstand 1500 recharges, up from 1000 of the current models. The new batteries will go on sale in Japan on November 15. The date is special to Sanyo, it is five years after the introduction of Eneloop(s) to the market.

These will be available in both AA and AAA versions. The Japanese-in-English press release at the Sanyo website only mentions Japan, so we do not know if/when these will be made available outside Japan.

(The official name is Eneloop, but many people call them Eneloops, maybe because it rhymes with Fruit Loops :)
