Medium format gone wild: four new DSLRs from Mamiya
This has been quite a crazy year for medium format. Adding to the craziness are four new Mamiya medium format DSLRs announced today! That's right four new models.
Mamiya is part of the new triumvirate that includes the three new digital Schneider lenses and their friends at Phase One. As you may recall, Phase One's announcement was for a medium-format camera, the 645FD, which needs a digital back for digital capture.
The cameras are so new they are not even listed on their website. Which I find completely ridiculous that in 2009 a company can't manage to update their blog/website with new cameras at the same time they are sending out press releases. Walk and chew gum anyone? :-)
The new models are the DM56, DM33, DM28 and DM22. This is a departure from their previous naming scheme that featured the DL33 and the $15,000 DL28.
We'll know more about these four if/when they bother to update their website :)
And on a rather ironic note, these are mentioned at gadget blogs Crunch Gear and Slash Gear, but not on most camera and photography websites :)
