Hands-on with the Leica S2 at PPE (and two full-size JPEGs)
We complete the Leica trilogy from PPE with a hands-on report on the Leica S2 at PDN Gear Guide by Theano Nikitas. The two sample images are available as full-size JPEGs when you click on them, in all their 37-megapixel glory!
To give a rough example of this type of file size in terms of monitors/HDTVs, imagine a giant wall filled with twenty full HD 1080p (1920x1080) computer monitors or HDTVs, arranged in a 4x5 rectangle. That's the visual, the actual math is 3.91 by 4.62 HDTVs, so you would need 18 total HDTVs, not 20 HDTVs, assuming of course there was such a thing as a fractional TV :) Even if you use a 21.5" 1080p LCD monitor as an example, it stills takes up a lot of space!
The S2 and the Leica S-system has spiced things up in the world of MeFo (medium format), and it has certainly drawn the attention and ire of the traditional MeFos. Lawyers, dentists and Wall-Street executives cannot "save" this camera. It has to win over professional photographers on its own merits :)
