First impressions with the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II

Now back to reality! While very few would be buying the Noctilux f0.95 ($10,000), the new Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 VR II will likely be a future workhorse lens for many working photographers in the Nikon world. This lens was announced (corrected link) in late July along with the D300s.

And now the lens is in the hands of an award-winning wedding photographer, Cliff Mautner, who has just posted his early first impressions, including sample photos taken with the Nikon D3.

You can buy four of these lenses for the price of the Noctilux f0.95, or you can buy 12 Sigma f2.8 lenses (without VR) for the same price ;-) The VR II is available for pre-order at Amazon et al for $2400.
