Canon S90 IS starting to ship! (updated)
We interrupt the quiet weekend with an in-stock alert for the Canon S90 IS! Already some of the people who placed pre-orders on the S90 at Amazon (after the cancellation) have had their cameras shipped in the last few hours.
But now, "live" buyers can buy the camera for $425 with free shipping at Amazon.com, offered by third-party seller ButterflyPhoto.com. Despite the excitement over the S90is, as usual, if you are not familiar with a 3rd-party seller, be sure to do the proper research. This blog is a fast-paced information-exchange for camera addicts, not a "nanny state" blog.
Please note that stock-status and availability is not updated automatically and it is as of the time of writing of this post. Which is partly why every post has a time and date stamp associated with it.
And a quick look in the forumsphere shows some new S90is owners sharing and discussing:
+ LX3 vs S90is
+ bridge samples compared to LX3, TZ7 (ZS3) and Nikon D3
+ is there vignetting?
+ and some discussion on crooked, sensors, bubbles, and levels
+ some pictures from a modest night on the town - New York City
As it is often the case with highly anticipated new releases, tempers may flare, excitement, both positive and negative might be EV +2 or +3, so keep that in mind while you dive into the S90-excitement-o-sphere.

UPDATE: a second retailer has it in-stock
According to their product page, Abe's of Maine lists the Canon S90is as available for $430 with free ground shipping. As we are not funded by Warren Buffet, we cannot place orders every time we see an item in-stock, so we go by what the product page states :-) You can take $10 off the price by entering coupon code LOYALTY10 in the shopping cart, in the "ADD PROMOTION CODE" box. The coupon code is good for purchases over $75, not just the S90is.
UPDATE Monday October-12 4:17pm EST: the camera has sold out!
As of the aforementioned time, the camera is out of stock at all the retailers mentioned above.
