Canon G11 action at Fotopolis and Laurence Kim and more
The review train continues, this time with the Canon G11. We start with part #1 of the Laurence Kim review, which focuses on high ISO, usability and built quality of the camera. Stay tuned to his blog for the next two installments, macros and portraits.
Next we travel to Fotopolis, where they post a number of real-world full-size pictures, including a fall scene going from ISO 80 to 3200. They also have a night-scene going from 800 to 3200. These are great also, because, while the test-charts make it easier to compare between cameras, how many of you shoot test charts on a daily basis? :)
Canon G11 in the forums
Speaking of real-world pictures, a nice selection of Seattle-visit pictures are posted in the dpreview forums. Star Wars are included! And another photographer also shares, including fall colors, cats and dogs!
But as always with brand new camera models, it's not always a bed of roses, this photographer has decided to return the G11 after the initial exuberance wore off. A long discussion follows. Be sure to get two cups of coffee for this one!
The G11 and nodal points are discussed in this thread at POTN (Photography on the Net).
Availability
In terms of availability, as you can see at the G11 stock-status matrix, the camera is shipping from everywhere for its opening price of $500.
