Pre-orders of the latest new digital cameras

A day in the life of the Pentax K7 (limited edition review-print, new review, new kits)

Time for another dive into the Pentax K-7 pool! We start with what could perhaps be an internet first - a limited-run print of a photograph featured in a review! The picture, unofficially called "Umbrella Lady", by Gordon Lewis, that was part of the Pentax K7 review posted at TOP is now available as a collector's print in a limited time offer at a rather reasonable price. You too can have a piece of online-camera-review history! The order deadline is 12pm New York City on Wednesday. Details at TOP.

And speaking of the K-7 review at TOP, Gordon Lewis has posted a behind the scenes blog-post talking about reviewing cameras.

One review that came out but got overshadowed by the dpreview-review is the one at CNet UK. If you are a K7 completist, you will surely want to check it out. It has also been added to the K7 list of reviews for future reference.

Meanwhile, Rice High has a solution that sheds some light on the noisy bits!

Pentax K7 forum action
One photographer's K-7 had a one and a half meter (5 feet) fall from grace - on concrete. Did it make it?

In the PFFs, the aforementioned CNet-UK review is discussed. I think they are not happy :)

Staying in the PFFs, one photog is experimenting with HDR and the Tamron 10-24mm. See the results.

Pentax Global Shooting Day is October 10
This is not K7-specific, but this looks like a good point to mention it. Saturday October 10 is Pentax Global Shoot day around the world. It's a global interactive collaborative type of an event. You can learn more via Yvon's blog and the PFFs.

New K-7 Kits invade America
Perhaps a sign of the K7 success, or just pre-planned, Pentax is launching three new K7 kits. You can read the complete press release at the Imaging Insider. The three new kits are as follows:
+ one-lens kit with the 18-55mm DA WR (+$100)
+ two-lens kit with the 50-200mm DA WR (+$250)
+ advanced kit with the 16-45mm (+$500)

In parenthesis you see the list-amount that is over the list-price. Until all these get circulated among the retailers and organic prices develop, the list prices are rather cosmetic at the moment.

The real-world body-only price appears to have stabilized at around $1100 at Amazon.
