Versatile new Canon EF-S 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM UD lens
One of the common complaints by APS-C EOS shooters was that Canon did not have more EF-S lenses, so today Canon took two steps in the right direction, first with the 18-135mm EF-S IS and more importantly for the more serious photographers the new EF-S 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 IS USM lens.
When mounted on the target 1.6X DSLRs, it gives the photographers the very versatile "equivalent" of 24-136mm. The starting price is $800. The lens has image stabilization, UD, and USM, and takes 72mm filters. It focuses as close as 35cm (1 foot, 2 inches) and weights around 20 ounces (575g).
Pending reviews, this could be a great lens for photographers who like to "glue" one lens to their DSLR, and then go out and about and take countless pictures, without having to worry about lens-bags, switching lenses in the field, and things like that.
The lens is available for pre-order at $800 at:
