Stock-status matrix updates for Pentax K-7 ($1200) and Olympus E-P1
Finally, after long delays, we have posted refreshes of the Pentax K-7 and the Olympus E-P1 stock-status matrixes (okay, matrices). Links and discussion of each update follows below.
Pentax K7 stock-status matrix update
We have some good news in the new K-7 stock status matrix in terms of price. Right now you can get the K-7 body-only for $1199, sold and shipped by Amazon itself, not 3rd-party sellers. This is the lowest price we've seen from a reputable seller, $101 less than the starting price.
The prices for the battery grip and battery have dropped a little bit as well, you can get them for $204 and $48 respectively.
On the lens front, we have mixed news. You can get both DA WR lenses for $400, however the prices of the 16-50/50-135 f2.8 SDM have gone up.
We are not sure if this is new-news, but it appears the Pentax 18-250mm lens is discontinued at B&H Photo and has disappeared from Amazon and other sellers.
Olympus E-P1 stock-status matrix update
Good news and bad news for the E-P1 kits at the new stock status matrix. The good news is that both the 14-42mm and the 17mm are in-stock at multiple retailers. The bad news is that the prices continue to hold steady at $800 and $900 with no discounts. But there is a silver lining to this, it is a very good sign for the E-P1 in terms of market strength.
Also, one retailer has the body-only in-stock, but for just $50 less than the kit with the 14-42mm it just doesn't make sense to get the body-only unless you hate the 14-42mm lens with a passion ;-) But even if you do, you can get the kit and sell/trade the lens :)
On the lens front, Amazon has five pancakes left, the rest of the retailers we track are sold out. Meanwhile, the 14-42mm is in-stock at various places, but not everywhere.
The remaining accessories are generally available, so if you need them (flash, viewfinder, adapters), you should be able to find them in-stock.
