Sigma DP2: Stoned and dethroned by dpreview
Being a prisoner of a flat one-dimensional recommendation system, dpreview has cornered itself with an "above average" rating of the Sigma DP2 in their review they posted earlier today. Considering the leniency of ratings in camera reviews in general - for fear of upsetting die-hard fanboys and camera manufacturers alike, and the fact that they have given some rather crappy cameras above above-average ratings in the past, it is rather strange that they give a camera with many flaws but with some unique features a mere "above average" rating.
And to add insult to injury, the review was knocked off the top of their page by a rerun of a reader-survey!
The reactions are starting to heat up in the forums, starting with this busy thread in the dpreview Sigma forums. More reactions as the review gets digested and propagated through the internets.
The DP2 is holding fairly steady in terms of pricing, currently going for $628 at Amazon.
