Nikon D300s with 18-200 DX VR combo review at CNet
We are slowly but steadily catching up with the non-Leica related news, so please bare with us. Next up, we have a combo review of the Nikon D300s with the new 18-200 DX VR lens. Lori Grunin of c|net has reviewed them together, a two-for-one review!
As usual, we won't reveal their findings here, which can be found at the top of the review. Jump ahead if you don't want to see the spoilers! Also, be sure not to miss the 10-item gallery, which includes the reviewer's commentary on the right side of the screen for each picture! And for the pixel-peepers out there, it includes the mandatory ISO elevator crop test among others.
The D300s body-only is shipping from many retailers, including Amazon herself at $1800, while the DX VR kit and the lens on its own remain in pre-order purgatory.
Needless to say, this sets up an interesting rivalry with the Canon 7D that will develop and grow over time as the cameras will often get reviewed/compared side by side. Right now, it's hard to do that since the 7D is still in beta body status.
