28 cameras win Good Design Awards 2009 in Japan
We have a "who's praising us now" update: The 2009 Good Design Awards in Japan have just been revealed! The awards cover a wide variety of products, including of course digital cameras. A number of digital cameras won "good design awards". Japanese website DC-Watch has created a table with all the cameras.
There is an english-speaking website dedicated to the awards and you can see them all here if you are interested in design, gadgets, consumer and industrial products. The cameras can be found in the "network" segment, starting on page #4.
A total of 27 individual digital cameras and the whole Canon IXY (Ixus, Elph) series won awards, including all three new Micro Four Thirds cameras, eight DSLRs, and various point and shoots including two from Samsung. Also winning awards, the Canon TS-E 17mm f4L lens, the Canon Speedlite 270EX and the Sony HVL-F58AM flash.
Fans of the Sony Alpha A900 may feel vindicated, as the camera, which a number of people have called ugly (and perhaps deservedly so), was one of the 27 winners.
So who is camera #28? A film camera, the sole film camera, the medium format Fuji GF670.
