Toshiba unveils first SDXC memory card in the world
Propelled by increasing megapixels and most importantly HD-Video, the march towards higher-capacity is officially launched today with Toshiba's official announcement of a new 64gb SDXC card. SDXC is the heir to SDHC which boosted the capacity of the original SD. The specs of the SDXC card allow up to 2TB of storage.
How long before that needs to get replaced with a higher capacity? Surely 2GB is all we ever needed with SD, and 32gb is all we ever needed with SDHC :-)
The SDXC card provides a theoretical maximum write speed of 35MB/sec and a read maximum of 60MB/sec. Also coming are two SDHC cards (16gb, 32gb) that are following the new standard that allows for this faster data rate.
