Samsung ST1000 (aka CL65), a folded-optics digicam with GPS is leaked

Share/Save/Bookmark

Samsung has been promising "scifi" cameras and other unusual things, and it looks like one of them will indeed be delivered, because Engadget is pointing to a leaked Samsung ST1000 (CL65), which looks like a typical Samsung folded-optics P&S digital camera, but it has GPS functionality, along with Bluetooth and Wifi. Other features include a 5X lens with stabilization, and a 3.5-inch touch-screen display. More details at the source of the leak at Samsung Hub.

iPhone meets folded-optics digital cameras? Is this the shape of things to come in the world of "bijou" compacts, boosted by the popularity of the iPhone, and replacing the more common telescopic lens designs?

Meanwhile, the official Samsung Imaging blog, which at times feels like a Xanga blog circa 2003, is banging the drums about their IAAF 2009 presence.
