New Pentax P80 and E80 join the Optio P&S family

The wave of new digital camera continues today as Pentax introduces a trio of new digital cameras. We start with the two 80s digital cameras, both of the point and shoot variety.

Meet the Pentax Optio P80
The Pentax Optio P80 is a 12-megapixel 1/2.3" digital camera with a 4x optical zoom lens that starts at 27.5mm wide and offers Optiaxians a wide-angle option.

It has the usual assortment of features, including face detection, the popular HD video option, a 2.7-inch LCD, and things like that.

It will be available with a starting price of $200, with your choice of three delicious body colors.

Pentax is also part of this ewaste-generating six-month P&S release cycle, as the P70 and E70 duo was announced at CES 2009 in early January 2009.

Meet the Pentax Optio E80
The Pentax Optio E80 is a new AA-based digital camera, that claims a generous 210 CIPA with alkaline batteries. It has a starting price of $130, and it follows up on the E70 (see above) that was announced at CES 2009.

It has a 10mp 1/2.3" sensor (wow, someone not using the 12mp 1/2.3"? oh my!), with a 3x optical zoom lens (31.5-94.5mm equivalent), a 2.7-inch LCD, and things like that.
