Voigtlander (Cosina) classic lenses listed at Olympus M4/3rds site
While looking for reactions to the E620 review, we noticed this interesting thread at the GetDPI forums. One forum user notices that Voigtlander/Cosina classic lenses are included in the lens-body-matching page (requires Flash; cool feature by the way!) at the official Four Thirds website. Cosina officially announced a M43 adapter in late April 2009.
Now this may be just what it is, with no additional implications, but could there be more to it? Out of all the non-43/non-M43/non-Olympus lenses that can be attached to 43/M43 cameras with adapters, the only ones included in that official page are the ones from Voigtlander-Cosina! For a young system like M43, there is certainly room for more lenses of all types. But I don't want to get people too excited, the most reasonable explanation is that the Cosina adapter is an official M43rds product, thus the inclusion of the VoCo lenses. But so are the Leica M- and R- adapters from Panasonic, yet those lenses are not included.
We hope that all companies involved in Micro 4/3rds are able to co-ordinate with each other productively, so we don't have a similar type of a lens produced by two different companies, when there is a need for all sorts of different type of M43 lenses.
