Panasonic GH1 review at dpreview (was shipping) (updated)
Just out of the blue, one quiet Friday morning, the dpreview review of the Panasonic GH1 has gone live! It is a 31-page Rehm and Westlake production, with conclusions on page #30. As always, there are pros and cons, and after mixing those in the "decider" bowl, the final rating is produced - and it may surprise some!
Already, one discussion thread has picked momentum talking about the review, with Lars responding to reader questions. We'll add more reactions from the forums later on, giving people some time to find the review, read it and then opine.
Just getting started is a review discussion at the GetDPI forum. Comment #2 has some interesting comments by a new GH1 owner.
But wait, there's more! Let us Go Digital is working on their GH1 review, but in the meantime, they have posted half a dozen sample pictures (JPEG, full-size).
For more on the GH1, be sure to check the unified G1/GH1 diary, and a summary of the main stories at the mini-blog.
It was shipping (not any more)
We were rather surprised to find out that the camera was actually shipping at B&H Photo! However, this did not last long. When we checked at 1:11pm eastern, the camera is in "accepting orders" status. So you can still place an order, but it is not currently in-stock. It goes for the expected standard price of $1500 which includes the 14-140mm lens.
The camera had been gone from the J&R website, and cannot be ordered at Amazon. But if you are a fan of Adorama, they are accepting pre-orders for $1500 as well.
Those not interested in video, can save a lot of money and get the Panasonic G1 two-lens kit for just $682.
