As Nikon promised a few days ago, they have now added a serial number checker on their support website that can inform you whether your DSLR would need the complimentary fix by Nikon support.

The Nikon D5000 are discussing this development in the dpreview forums, and one forum user has been plugging in numbers left and right and came up with a pattern, a cut-off point if you like.
