New revelations about the Fuji 3D system (price-tag, availability)
The Imaging Insider features some new developments in the on-going development of the Fuji 3D (dual-sensor/dual-lens) technology that was showcased by Fuji at Photokina 2008.
Even though this is the type of a camera that would have the gadget-blogs excited, Engadget does not seem too bullish, as the price-tag of $600 acts as a scare-crow. And we won't have to wait for too long, it looks like it will be released one year after its introduction, around September 2009. Which means we should have an announcement earlier on, most likely this month, since it is expected to be launched in Japan in the summer.
Interestingly, of all the places, the news originated out of Time Magazine which goes on into more details about Fuji, the market in general, 3D technology and more.
But apart from the 3D aspects, we are assuming that this also opens the door for other intriguing features. Since the system already has two-sensors and two-lenses, there is a variety of things one can do, such as in-camera HDR, two different focal-length shots of the same scene, and more.
