New Olympus Stylus Tough 6010 fails to get the SDHC memo

Share/Save/Bookmark

While the E-P1 has moved on to the SD/SDHC land, we have some sad news for you. The just-announced Olympus Stylus Tough 6010 stubbornly avoids the SD/SDHC memory cards, thus damning this promising new camera to a limited audience. Olympus, wake up again!

The other silly thing is the camera name, "Stylus Tough"? Might as well call it "Butterfly Tough" ;-)

The Olympus Stylus Tough 6010 is a new element-proof camera, and it follows up on the 8000/6000 duo that was announced at CES 2009. It has a lot of similarities. One difference is perhaps the addition of Art Filters "Magic Filters". But we don't know if they play the song "Hey man, nice shot!" when activated ;-)

The camera (so far) has been announced in Asia and the UK, but not in Japan or the US yet. We do not know if this is intended to be a limited-release geographically or it will make the rounds later on. The UK price is 300GBP with an expected August release.
