New Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 ED VR II wants to be upgrade bait

Nikon wants you to upgrade! One of the workhorse lenses is getting version II, the 70-200mm f2.8 ED VR II. The starting price for the new lens is $2400, with an estimated shipping date of November. The starting price is about $450 higher than the current version.

Thrifty photographers will point out that for that price, you can get almost three non-VR versions from Sigma or Tamron.
