Leica reveals prices for the S2 and the S-system

Leica has revealed the prices for the S2 medium format camera and their new S-system! Check dpreview for the UK prices!

In late June, when the Insider featured an interview with a Leica VP who did not disclose the prices then, we polled our readers to guess the price-range of the S2. See how close the consensus was from the actual price! (once the USA prices are revealed).

If you pay attention to Adsense ads, you may also see the same retailer running "pre-order the Leica S2" ads in places that "The Google Machine" deems relevant.

UPDATE #2
Amateur Photographeur UK has a new post, where Leica gives the date of October as the S-system release date. Maybe they are waiting for the economic environment to improve a little bit and people to get in the holiday-shopping-season mood ;-)

Update #3: Leica Strikes Back
The Leica VP of marketing has responded to complaints about the pricing in an interview with PDN Pulse. And unlike the RED CEO, he did not offer on-the-spot discounts :-)

From Leica to the Imaging Insider where they have the price-list of all the new S-series products. We summed them all up, it looks like you need to pay $70,000 to get the S2 and all the lenses!

Update #5: You Did It!
Congratulations blog poll voters! The biggest voting block in our June 30 poll voted for $20,000 to $25,000, which is the correct price range for the S2, which is coming out at $23,000. Honda Accord or Leica S2? :-)
