Blogger inconsistency, ignore this! (was E-P1 kits vs lens prices)

Share/Save/Bookmark

I am confusion in this post. Do not read this unless you have time to waste :)

In responding to a comment at the E-P1 stock matrix, I just realized (yes, I am operating in slow-mo) something rather peculiar with the current E-P1 prices. Both the 14-42mm and 17mm lenses on their own go for $300 each. Yet, if you look at the E-P1 kits, the one with the 17mm lens goes for $900 while the one with the 14-42mm goes for $800.

Considering that the E-P1 body-only is listed at $750, it is as if Olympus is subsidizing the 14-42mm lens, and at the same time, they know that a lot of people attracted to M43rds would want the 17mm lens.

Q: Or is there something else I am missing?
A: YES! I am missing something, the E-P1 kit with the 17mm lens includes the VF1 OVF which goes for $100 on its own.
