Dissecting the Nikon D5000 serial numbers

NikonWatch.com rolled up their sleeves and looked further into the D5000 serial number issues. For one thing, they tried serial numbers in increments of 100, and reported their results. It looks like it's not just a discrete block as it was previously believed, but rather interleaved which some may find a bit more disturbing - but not necessarily so.

And for the geeks out there, they put together some code (software) to check the serial numbers. And if you use a multi-core computer, their code takes advantage of it.
