Alleged Nikon two-year roadmap is loaded with new DSLRs and lenses
Now we have to preface this by saying this is a roadmap that was posted at a forum by an individual forum user. It is not coming from Nikon nor was it leaked from a Nikon website.
Nikon Rumors has the english version of an alleged Nikon roadmap that was posted at a popular Czech photography forum. Whether this is fact, fiction or the hybrid works of a diehard Nikonian, we do not know, but it is certainly very interesting to read and ponder and speculate.
The roadmap goes all the way to the end of 2010, and it includes lots of dSLRs, including an alleged 2010 power-trio of D4, D4X and D400, a DX-sensor Coolpix, and dozens of lenses, big and small, including some f2! It is certainly loaded, overloaded, super-backloaded, and one would assume that Nikon would have to be very productive and efficient in order to come up with all these products. The 2010 portion is what will likely cause a number of people to treat this as more wishlistic than realistic.
One small thing that "computes" in this roadmap is that it lists August 4 as the DSLR announcement date, with July 30 being the Coolpix date. As we speculated before, this is typically how most companies do it, so as not to eclipse the P&S announcements. Of course this does not "prove" the whole roadmap.
And a few hours earlier, Nikon superguru Thom Hogan posted a new refinement to his Nikonian predictions (see July 7 entries), which from the looks of it seems to not-contradict the 2009 portion of the alleged roadmap mentioned above. He talks of D700X and D300s, and tries to answer the question of "is twelve megapixels enough?".
UPDATE: Thom Hogan comments on the above roadmap on his site (see July 9 entry) and calls it fanfic (fan fiction).
