Thom opines on the E-P1 and Nikon's non-offerings in the segment

Share/Save/Bookmark

Nikon Guru and premier Nikon eBook author Thom Hogan has written an opinion piece on the Olympus E-P1 and Nikon's half-hearted (at best) attempt to make a serious compact digital camera. You can find it on the front page of his website right now. If you are reading this at a later date, look for the June 21, 2009 entry in his Archives.

We have seen a lot of "rumor action" from Nikon, but neither the mythical digital-rangefinder, nor the mythical APS-C fixed-lens compact came anywhere near to being or becoming real. (Well, at least not yet). So it will be interesting to see what Nikon does on July 30 and August 4. Will they "mail it in" and just release a sequential update to the P6000 [reviews] like they did with the P5100/P5000, or will they try something more interesting? We hope for the latter, but the former is more likely :(

Speaking of which, perhaps it is time for Nikonians to start an online petition for Thom to provide:
1) permalinks to individual posts
2) RSS feed (even a basic notification-feed would do, and does not require a website change)
