New Olympus E-P1 samples, another Akira interview, and more
The Olympus E-P1 is a fast-paced camera! There's new stuff coming out every millisecond it seems :-)
We start with a freshly baked baker's dozen of full-size samples pictures posted at DigiCam Review. The pictures were taken with a production camera and the new 14-42mm M-Zuiko (Micro Four Thirds Zuiko) lens.
Next, grab your favorite computer-translator, because we have another interview with Akira Watanabe of Olympus. This interview is posted at Le Monde de la Photo and it is in french. If our french translation is correct, Akira reveals the reason why they didn't make a black body. He also answers questions about the OVF, LCD, shutter sound, video, Fuji, and more!
Next, also from Le Monde, there are some sample pictures, including an ISO-crop elevator series (ISO 100 to 6400), and a slideshow showing the effects of the Art Filters on different scenes (scenes as in pictures, not scene-modes).
The Imaging Insider spotlights two short videos taken with the E-P1, one is of horses carrying humans and the other from the Japanese launch event.
More samples says Foto Actualidad these ones posted on Smugmug by Howard Sheard. A total of 37 samples of urban cityscapes and scenes.
On working with the RAW files, one dpreview forum user came up with a quick hack on dcraw, but as he explains it's not perfect.
One photographer shares in the dpreview forums a couple of pictures from a camera store with lots of Olympus E-P1 promotional material.
Not to be confused with the Brian Fellows Safari, the Olympus Safari is a semi-public website that focuses on all things Olympus and they have a team review diary for the Olympus E-P1. Be sure to bookmark that as it is expected to grow and grow as the camera gets released.
Then we visit TOP, where they feature a 2-minute YouTube video preview.
Next, MasterChong spotlights some E-P1 samples as well, but no "ISO Bunny" discussion this time :)
For past, present and future E-P1 updates, be sure to check the E-P1 mini-blog. Also, don't forget the pre-ordering center, which helps support this crazy blog.
Late Edition [New!]
But wait, there's more! Photographer Edmond Terakopian spent three hours with the Olympus E-P1 and he is sharing his experience with it on his blog. He also created a set with the test shots and made them available on flickr.
If you are interested in night shots, the Imaging Insider has posted a 60-second sample, available for download, taken with the E-P1 and the 17mm lense. And in the same post, they also have a 15-second shot taken with the Shiguma DP2.
Japanese website DigitalCamera.jp has posted a dozen full-size JPEG sample pictures taken with the E-P1. If you are reading this at a later date, be sure to check their archives for the Monday June 29, 2009 post.
