Leica S2 makes first shy retail appearance but remains priceless
The Imaging Insider points out that the much-talked about and eyebrow-raising Leica S2 has made its first retail appearance at B&H Photo which lists some of its key specifications. As of right now, there is no price attached to it. Or perhaps the price is so high that the computers had their own Y2K ;-)
We checked, but did not find the camera listed at Amazon, Adorama, J&R or Calumet. Speaking of which, they have free shipping on everything until June 28.
Leica S2 spec refresher
+ 38-megapixel-class sensor (that's the "HDTV trick" we are using, not Leica, so yell at us, not Leica (intended as a joke in case it wasn't obvious))
+ sensor is in the medium format arena (30x45mm)
+ takes new S-series lenses
+ lots of duos: two memory cards slots (CF/SDHC), dual shutter, dust/weatherproof
+ the big question: can it crash the Pentax K7 in a collision test in the rain and in the water?
+ announced at Photokina 2008
And to please the five Leica S2 fans, we created a new category that tracks the Leica S2 updates.
Speaking of MF, we still owe you a round-up of the new Mamiyas that came during the K7-EP1 mania. It is coming this week :)
