Canon SD880is gets tested by Imaging Resource (better late than never!)
It has been described as a DSLR user's best friend. The camera? The Canon SD880is! And even though it is not a 2009 model, it is still the current model in this segment. Why a DSLR user's best friend? It is compact, has the no-nonsense Canon look-and-feel and starts at 28mm wide (equivalent of course). And just now, Imaging Resource has just posted a review of it. Check it out! If you have been following the camera, their findings should be a surprise to no one. The big question is, did it make a "Dave's Pick"? Read through to find out!
You can check out other opinions on the camera by taking a look at its list of reviews (corrected url).
The camera is not as easy to find at a reasonable price these days. for example, none of the well-known sellers at One of the recognizable sellers at Amazon, Ace Photo Digital is offering it for around $290.
But you can find it for less - NewEgg.com is offering it for $269 plus shipping. Search for it using the NewEgg product number N82E16830120284 or by its name.
We should also point out that the camera was announced in September 2008, about a year after the SD870 IS. Since then, we only saw one wide-angle Elph, the SD960is (February 2009), but the SD960is is designed more as a fashionable camera, not a direct SD880is replacement. Unless of course Canon continues on the Powershot-self-destruct path it started when it de-PASM'ed their historic A-series.
If you are a fan of refurbished cameras, Adorama (corrected url) is offering the gold color for $200 with free shipping.
