Trendspotting: The Google and the SLR manufacturers

Google has a fun iGadget that shows search-trends over time. So, being Sunday night, and winding down time, how about a fun widget? The widget below shows the Google-search trends of the five traditional SLR manufacturers. Please note that the results are for the word, they are not filtered for cameras, so someone like Sony who has a complete line of consumer electronics will have more searches.

Note the Pentax spike when the K7 started generating buzz. And if you switch to the one-year or maximum time (click on "1y" or "Max" on the widget below), you will see the "Holiday shopping season horns".

If you are a Sony fan, avoid the Max view, because there is an avalanche coming at the end of the line! On the other hand, Nikon fans are heavily encouraged to check the "max view", because there are new highs almost every year!
