Rumor: Tokina lenses for the Sony Alpha mount coming?

Thanks to our reader Mark for this tip, there is a thread in the Dyxum.com forums, where a veteran Dyxum forum user (over 4800 posts) says he received communication from Tokina Japan that they are developing lenses for the Sony Alpha mount! Please note, this is not an official announcement!

If it turns out to be so, it would be good news for Sonoltas as they would have more choices for their lenses. This is also perhaps a good sign for the future of the Alpha mount if indeed Tokina decided to expand in that direction. Tokina, under its own brand, sells Canon and Nikon lenses at the moment, but also has Hoya (corporate) and Pentax (lenses) ties.
