Olympus Japan declares June 15 announcement day

Olympus officially breaks the silence and reveals that June 15 is the day of the announcement, according to digitalcamera.jp (computer-translated, look for the May 13th entry). Interestingly, they mention the PEN legacy, which was something that was also mentioned indirectly by the Olympus Twitter.

We'll have reactions and more on this later today. Later has arrived, reactions are below. This post is now final.

Blogosphere reactions
Ken Norton of Zone-10 reacts and speculates on what to expect from the June 15 Olympus official announcement.

Forum reactions
We start at the non-denominational but opinionated dpreview News forum, where the PEN legacy is revisited in the discussion.

Next up, in the Olympus forum, the discussion is distributed, there are a few smaller threads interspersed throughout.

A discussion of this has started up in the GetDPI forums, where we also get some lessons in Japanese :) There, they also try to decipher the computer-translated "two weeks", which could mean that the cameras will be released two weeks after announcement (where though? Japan? elsewhere?), which would be the start of the 2nd half of 2009 as Olympus promised a few weeks ago.

A discussion has also started at Photo.net.

The various Four Thirds specialty forums haven't started any discussions yet, but we'll keep an eye out for them in the future.
