Discover New Sites: comedy, parody and satire
Welcome to a special edition of "Discover New Sites and Blogs". In this episode we focus on comedy, parody and satire. Photography and tech talk can sometimes get too serious, and simple noise comparisons can turn into life-or-death type of debates. So some comedy, parody and satire can be a good diversion, a break from the day-to-day routine.
We start with Photographer's Math. No, do not worry, this is not math-math, but fun-math. Easy math. No calculators needed. Just fun equations. It's actually a lot easier to explain this with a sample equation, posted with permission from Photographer's Math:
These and a lot more are available on their blog, here are a couple of other favorites:
+ Cheap Zoom lens
+ Gary Fong's Lightsphere
Next up, we visit a new blog created by a self-described "opinionated pompous photographer". This is a satirical blog from the looks of it, dishing and critiquing the photo-blogo-sphere. Here is Passing the Glass. This is not for the faint of heart or feelings. Topics include overrated photo-blogs, iSnort for iPhone (!), RSS complaints and everything in-between. This has the potential to become the Joan Collins of the photo-blogo-sphere.
Then we go to the Fake Chuck Westfall, following on the footsteps of the Fake Steve Jobs and a whole slew of other "Fake"-series of satire blogs. After a brief hiatus, the FCW is back with some cold weather testing and some noise-about-noise.
And of course there's the now legendary Ken Rockwell, another self-described comedian. This coming from Rockwell himself, see his about page. Mentioning the name Ken Rockwell in a photography forum is the equivalent of mentioning the name Pete Rose in a sports bar. Fireworks follow...
Have we missed any other camera and photography related comedy, parody or satire blogs? If yes, please let us know and we will add them to the list!
