Big victory for consumers, retailers and the free market: Maryland bans minimum pricing agreements

Share/Save/Bookmark

The Free Market has been under attack the last few years, from greedy bastards on Wall Street "fixing" the game to their favor (such shameless populism), to no-bid contracts and other atrocities, but the state of Maryland has taken a step closer to a Free Market by banning minimum pricing schemes that manufacturers had been forcing upon the Free Market.

You can read about it in the Wall Street Journal, and more so, be sure to check out an interesting discussion of this in the dpreview news forum. And to see what impact this would have on freeing up the market again, see who started that discussion in the forums :) The discussion has also attracted an all-star cast, including Thom Hogan and Eamon Hickey, and some forum veterans.
