New Nikon Coolpix S225 (probably a retailer-exclusive clone)

In addition to the waves of Coolpixies we saw earlier this year, Nikon has announced a new model number, the Coolpix S225 which right now will only be available exclusively at UK retailer Jessops. Other manufacturers have been using this "exclusive model" approach, and it looks like Nikon is giving it a try with the entry-level S-series Coolpixie.

In our opinion, this is just creating more confusion and it is not a very consumer-friendly approach, so we give this and all the other similar marketing crapola attempts at muddying the waters for the average consumer a big thumbs down.

A quick comparison of the main specifications shows that the camera is likely the same or very similar to the generally available Coolpix S220.
