How does the new Ricoh HDR engine perform? (Ricoh CX1 review at Photography Blog)
The Ricoh CX1 was announced in February 2009 with the promise and premise of improved out-of-the-camera dynamic range with Ricoh's new engine technology.
So it is with great interest that we read the first full review of this camera, posted at Photography Blog. If the site looks a bit different, you are right, Photography Blog has recently performed a remodeling of their website. Their reviews have now gone to a 9-page format, versus their previous 6-page format. One of our pet-peeves is that camera reviews don't always provide summary-comparisons between similar or competing cameras, so we are thrilled that Photography Blog has added a main rivals page for their reviews.
As usual, we won't spoil their findings here, but if you are in a hurry, you can jump to the conclusions page, which remains as page #6, just like before. They also discuss how this compares to the Fuji EXR dynamic range feature.
As far as availability, in the US market, Adorama estimates release of this camera in late May 2009. It is available however for pre-ordering for $380 with free shipping and handling.
