Conspiracy theory: Is Canon playing politics to "punish" sites if they don't like their reviews?

We were left wondering and wandering when we saw that Canon did not inform DC-Resource of the announcement of the T1i/500D ahead of time like they usually do with the camera review sites and photography publications so they can prepare their material ahead of time. Some websites were even given sample camera bodies to preview.

It's one thing to ignore smaller sites or leaky rumoralia sites and gadget blogs, but DC-Resource does not even post rumors, let alone leak anything.

Considering how Canon treated some of the other Canon-related sites (eg CanonRumors.com, Fake Chuck Westfall) we were left scratching our heads.

We scratched our heads so much it hurt, so we had to put on a hat. The conspiracy theory hat. So we came up with this what-if conspiracy-theory scenario: Is Canon playing politics by indirectly punishing review sites if they don't "like" the reviews they write for their cameras?

We blog, you decide!
