Steve's Digicams was sold in Q4-2008 to (updated)

One of the original "Big Six" camera review sites, Steve's Digicams, has now been sold to, a company that owns dozens and dozens of websites, including BensBargains, CarsDirect, Bargainist, and - among many others. It will be interesting to see how this may affect the website. Will there be an infusion of resources, or perhaps a rebranding and integration with the rest of the websites, or will it continue business-as-usual?

This of course comes almost two years after Amazon acquired dpreview in May of 2007.

Update: Photoscala points to the Q4 2008 results from where it is revealed that Steve's Digicams was actually sold to InternetBrands in the 4th quarter of 2008. During that time, IB bought four companies for a total of $2.8 million.

We are not familiar with the other three websites, so we do not know what the valuation was for Steve's Digicams, but after taking a look at the other three websites (2 job-related, 1 car-related), it looks like Steve's is the biggest of the four.

So if you have a camera review site, are you ready for seven figures? :)

On a totally unrelated note, we have received an unsolicited offer for this blog, two medium-pizzas, one pound of french-roast coffee, and a refurbished iPod shuffle. We are seriously considering this offer, so if you have a better offer, please let us know!
